About This Position

This position works within the scope of practice as defined by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. The Advanced Ultrasound Technologist must be able to handle all patients according to their needs and take direction from the Radiology Medical Director. Responsibilities include performing examinations and procedures to assist in patient throughput, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining patient confidentiality.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility by working other shifts and at other campuses as needed. They will also troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report any issues to the appropriate personnel. This role requires active participation in the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and a commitment to professional development and staff engagement.

Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

Perform varied and moderately complex clinical tasks within the scope of practice.
Handle the movement, set-up, and operation of medical ultrasound equipment.
Adapt patient assessment and treatment methods to accommodate individual needs.

Administrative

Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Teaching & Training

Participate in educational presentations to staff and students.
Serve as a functional mentor to junior staff.

Qualifications

Required

Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound program.
Minimum 2 years of experience in at least 3 Ultrasound disciplines.

Preferred

Associate degree.

Certifications

Sonography (S) by ARRT or Abdomen (AB) RDMS by ARDMS required.

Experience

Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in ultrasound.

Diverse patient demographics with a focus on maternal and fetal health.

Technology & EMR

Utilizes advanced ultrasound technology and PACS for imaging.

Facility

Part of CHRISTUS Health, a large not-for-profit health system with over 600 facilities.

Patient Volume

Expected to assist with patient throughput and manage multiple ultrasound examinations.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
